What is a CVV2 Number? |

CVV2 (sometimes called CVC or CID) is an authentication mechanism
created by some credit card companies to help reduce credit card fraud.

Because the CVV2 number is not embossed on the card,
or contained in the magnetic strip, the card holder needs to
have the card physically in hand in order to locate the three
or four digit code.

Where do I find the CVV2 number? |
|
The CVV2 number is located in different places, on different cards.

Visa and MasterCard |
|
The CVV2 number is located on the back of the card in the signature area.
The number is always three digits and is sometimes preceded
by the card number or the last four digits of the card number.

American Express |

The CVV2 number is located on the front of the card, just
above the card number, usually on the right. It is a four-digit number:
